The time has come for a second access road into Wainuiomata. Let’s start the planning and then start building.

Tell the Council to prioritise a second access road through its Long Term Plan consultation, and tell the government to back it with infrastructure funding from its $3.8 billion fund to unlock land for housing.

Wainuiomata has just one road in and out. One minor incident on the hill and the area is cut off, sometimes for hours. This isn’t good enough for a growing community.

Opening a second access road through to Naenae would increase our resilience and unlock land to build thousands of homes.

Without more supply, house prices and rents in Wainuiomata and Lower Hutt will keep going up and up at record levels.

The land in northern Wainuiomata (Upper Fitzherbert road and surrounds) can support thousands of houses, but it needs a second access road to be viable.

Let’s start planning and then start building!
